BOSTON (CBS) – Masks will be mandatory until October 1 at dozens of Catholic schools in eastern Massachusetts. The Archdiocese of Boston said on Wednesday it supports the Baker administration universal mask mandate planned in schools, regardless of vaccination status.
“Although the governor’s guidelines only apply to public schools, we have informed the Archdiocese of Catholic Schools of Boston of our decision to implement universal indoor masking until October 1, 2021, as the governor proposed it for public schools for students aged five and over, ”the archdiocese said in a statement.
The archdiocese directly controls 69 Catholic schools in the region. He strongly recommends that other Catholic schools in the region take the same approach.
Vaccination is the best way to bring the pandemic under control, the archdiocese said, citing Pope Francis’ position.
“Getting vaccinated … is an act of love” the Pope said recently. “And helping to get the majority of people vaccinated is an act of love.
