Brooks had two wedding dresses. The first – a ball gown that transformed into a tight dress and pants – was designed by her friend, Christian Siriano. The second dress, which Brooks wore during the ceremony, was designed by Oluwagbemisola Okunlola, a black designer based in London. It featured intricate white lace on a bodice that closely matched the Tony Award-nominated actress’ skin tone, creating a sheer look.
“Finding a black wedding dress designer was very important to me. When I tell you I hit the jackpot by finding @alonuko_bespoke, I hit the jackpot,” Brooks said while sharing the photos on instagram Thusday.
“We thought it would be best to do an early reveal so we could go ahead with the wedding photos and not hold our guests back after the ceremony,” Brooks said. vogue. “I decided to wear Christian Siriano for the revelation. We have been friends since the beginning of my career.
She thanked Siriano for instagram, writing, “Words cannot express how grateful I am to have a friend like you. You have supported me from one of my first mats to the most important day of my life! I love you and appreciate your friendship! Thank you for my 3 in 1 dress! I love you @csiriano.
Project track winner Siriano has been dressing Brooks for red carpet appearances for years, including 2019 Orange is the new black final event.
In an interview with vogue, Brooks said that she and Gelin met when he came to her house for a party. The two eventually exchanged numbers and talked for hours the next day. After their lengthy conversation, Brooks said she received a bouquet of flowers at her doorstep.
“My heart just started pounding,” she admitted. “I could feel it. At that point, I thought to myself, ‘If this card says ‘From Dennis’, I found my husband.’ Sure enough, I opened the card and it said, ‘To Danielle, thank you for an amazing evening. See you soon. Dennis.’ This man had gone above and beyond. He had flowers delivered to my house, and we hadn’t known each other for over 24 hours. In that moment, I knew he was a man who was always going to love and appreciate me.
