Former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) Opposed the Republican Party, saying former President Donald Trump lost the 2020 general election. Trump has repeatedly promoted the “big lie” That the election was riddled with fraud and abuse and attempted to portray President Joe Biden as illegitimate despite all evidence to the contrary.
“President Trump lost the election. Joe Biden won the election, ”Ryan said in a maintenance with WISN 12 News. He added: “It was not rigged. It was not stolen. Donald Trump lost the election. Joe Biden won the election. It is really clear.
Ryan also commented on the Republican-led Wisconsin election audit of the 2020 election which was spurred in large part by Trump’s lies. He said Trump had “run out of business.”
“He’s exhausted his bags,” Ryan said. “He has exhausted legal challenges. None of them followed his path, so he legitimately lost. Are there misdeeds, organized shenanigans during the elections? Sure. Is there fraud? Yes. Was it organized to the point of tilting the Electoral College and the presidential election? Absolutely not.”
Ryan has expressed his belief that the Republican Party has formed a personality cult around the former president, a move that could cost him dearly.
“I think it’s a big mistake for the Republican Party to be a party about a person or a personality, ”Ryan said. “And I think we’ll continue to lose if we surround ourselves with one person. We haven’t lost that much so quickly in a long, long time.
