FaceTime is a great way to make video calls between iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It’s been an important part of Apple’s ecosystem for years now. With iOS 15, Apple is now opening the feature to people outside the ecosystem. FaceTime users can now video call friends and family on Android phones, Windows computers, or possibly any device with a browser. Here is a step by step guide on how you can use Facetime on Android to participate in video calls.
Make a FaceTime call between iPhone and Android
You no longer need to have an iPhone to connect with your friends on FaceTime. Below is everything you need to know about FaceTime on Android, including the steps to use it.
Can I use FaceTime on Android?
If you have an Android phone, you can join and watch video calls on FaceTime. However, you cannot yet initiate or make FaceTime calls on Android. You’ll need a friend or family member with an iOS 15, iPadOS 15, or Mac device to send you an invitation to join the call.
Either way, the good thing is that you don’t need an Apple ID or video chat signup. All you need is a link from a friend with an iPhone. You can then use the link to join the video call directly through your browser, similar to Zoom. Here is how it works.
Step 1- Create FaceTime Call Link on iPhone
1. Open FaceTime on iPhone or iPad. If you can’t find it, search the Application library.
2. Here click on Create a link.
3. This will automatically open the share sheet. Here press Add name under “FaceTime Link” and add a name if you want.
Step 2- Share the link with Android phone
Select the person (Android phone) to invite into the FaceTime call from the share sheet. You can share the FaceTime call link through any messaging platform, be it traditional texting or instant messaging apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, etc.
Step 3- Join FaceTime Call on Android
On the Android device, you will receive the link in the format “facetime.apple.com. “Once you’ve done that, follow the steps below.
1. Press to open FaceTime call link in a browser, preferably Chrome.
2. Once opened, enter your name and press Carry on. You don’t need to register or do anything else.
3. Authorize the use of your camera and microphone if you haven’t already.
4. Now click on the Rejoin button in the upper right corner.
You will see a “While waiting to be admitted ..at the bottom of the screen while the iPhone user accepts you into the meeting.
The iPhone user who created the link will be invited to accept you into the meeting. Just ask them to press the green colored check mark button in the pop-up window. Once they do, you will join FaceTime calling and video chat from your Android phone.
You get a few onscreen controls, including the ability to go fullscreen, mute, mute video, and switch cameras. Additionally, you can tap the three-dot menu and activate the grid layout or switch between available cameras and audio sources.

This feature only works on iPhones running iOS 15. It is currently available through the public beta channel, while the stable version is expected to roll out later this year. If you want to try new features, you can sign up for Apple’s beta program and download the beta.
