MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Hennepin County now offers incentives for those who get vaccinated against COVID-19.
According to Hennepin County officials, the county council has authorized the use of $ 100,000 in federal funding for incentives, which are implemented to help encourage those who have not been vaccinated to do so. Less than 60% of residents of the county’s 19 zip codes have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

“This action is an opportunity to build on the Minnesota statewide vaccination incentive strategy in a way specifically tailored to the unique needs and concerns of Hennepin County residents. For us, that means tackling vaccine disparities by race and neighborhood, ”said District 6 Commissioner Chris LaTondresse.
Incentive Details
Between July 1 and August 15, anyone aged 12 and over can receive a $ 50 VISA gift card when they receive a first or second dose at any Hennepin County vaccination event. Officials note that incentives will be offered as long as stocks last.

Community organizations that work to promote vaccination against COVID-19 in their communities are also eligible for grants of up to $ 3,000 to be used for vaccination incentives.
“Examples of incentives that community organizations can offer include food, entertainment, vaccine education events, gift cards and thank you packs,” the statement said.
