When we tested the Xiaomi mi 11, we fell in love with the telemacro camera which took better close-up photos than almost any other smartphone. Looks like this lens could roll over to the next one again Xiaomi mi 11t.
This comes from the Xiaomi media Xiaomiui, who shared an infographic showing spec leaks he found on the Mi 11T or Redmi K40 series (the latter name will likely be used in China, while the same handsets will likely be under the old name elsewhere). It’s unclear where this information originally came from, so take it with a pinch of salt.
Apparently, the phone will ship with a chipset made by MediaTek, not Qualcomm which typically supplies Xiaomi phone processors – the exact chipset has not been specified, however.
The leak also states that the handset will have a 120Hz display, a 64 MP main camera, an ultra-wide camera with a Sony IMX355 sensor (a sensor that hasn’t been officially announced yet, should we add) and a 3x telemacro camera.
It’s quite lacking in specs right now, but we haven’t heard too much about the Xiaomi Mi 11T although we’re expecting it pretty soon, so it’s better than nothing.

Analysis: bad news for all other phones
If the Xiaomi Mi 11T uses a similar, if not better, telemacro camera than the Mi 11, then it will almost certainly be the late 2021 smartphone to beat when it comes to close-ups.
Most smartphones with macro cameras use questionable lenses and low-resolution sensors, and the Mi 11 was one of the few phones that showed attention and care for this popular form of photography. Macro cameras are great for focusing on close up or small objects like flowers, insects, small foods, or textures.
Apple or Google are unlikely to choose to use a macro camera on the iPhone 13 or Google pixel 6, at least judging by the current leaks, and while both will likely employ some sort of software system to optimize close-up shots, software doesn’t compare with good hardware.
So macro photo fans: if you’re looking for a new smartphone towards the end of the year, the Mi 11T might be the only new phone that meets your needs. Well, unless you are happy to buy the Mi 11 or Mi 11 Lite.
