Apple has gradually pivoted its design language over the years and across its products. Interestingly enough, it started with the iPad Pro which ditched curved edges in favor of flat edges. This then spread to the iPhone 12, and it looks like it may soon be extended to the Apple Watch as well.
In a slew of new renderings shared by 91mobiles, they’ve released what appear to be renders of the upcoming Apple Watch Series 7 that show off the flat edges of the watch. This seems to be in line with the renderings we’ve seen from Jon Prosser and RendersByIan few months ago, so while not necessarily confirmed, they corroborate each other’s claims.
The adoption of flat edges makes the watch look a bit more square. While the face of the Apple Watch has always been square, the use of the curved edges and the curved screen gave it a more “organic” look. It makes for a squarer look, but whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing will depend on your personal preferences.
Apple is reportedly planning an event in September where the iPhone 13 will be announced. This is also the same event that will most likely see the launch of Series 7, so check back in the coming weeks for more details.
