The Pentagon told federal contractors in Texas that Greg Abbott’s order didn’t matter and that they needed to get the shot.
Here is the advice for defense contractors in Texas:
BREAKING: The Pentagon says defense contractors in Texas must get vaccinated against COVID-19 despite Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s ban on a vaccine mandate in the state. “These requirements are promulgated in accordance with federal law and supersede any contrary state or local law or ordinance.” pic.twitter.com/HfG0baBz5U

Greg Abbott lacks the legal authority to override federal law
It is basic civic education. Greg Abbott as Governor does not have the power or authority to override Federal Law / Executive Orders. Joe Biden is the President of the United States. Its vaccine mandate takes precedence over any prescription Abbott has or may issue.
Governor Abbott cannot prevent federal contractors in his state from getting vaccinated.
This is called the supremacy clause. It’s in the Constitution. Federal law is the supreme law of the land. Joe Biden has the power to set terms and conditions of employment for federal contractors.
The Pentagon was right to send the message to Greg Abbott that he and his “order” can get started.
Abbott cannot dictate the terms and conditions of federal contracts, and there is nothing he can order that would override President Biden’s federal authority.
If contractors are to keep their federal contracts, they must follow Biden’s order and get vaccinated.
